Professional Learning and Ethical Practice

InTASC Standard #9 is Professional Learning and Ethical Practice. A teacher is always learning. It’s important to keep up with current educational resources in order to best evaluate his/her performance in the classroom, as well as how to maintain connections with the students and the community. I keep up with advancements in education through my Kappa Delta Pi membership, National Educators Association Membership, and National Council of Teachers of English membership.

I am a proud member of Kappa Delta Pi, an international education honors society. Through Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) I have access to a myriad of resources. From weekly webinars and annual conferences, to education publications and educator learning courses, KDP provides me with countless tools and resources to continue my educational development as a professional.

Like the KDP, the National Education Association (NEA) provides wonderful resources for continued educator development. In addition to regional and national conferences, the NEA provides access to lesson plans, classroom management tips, new teaching strategies, and a community of new and veteran teachers.

The national council of English Teachers is a wonderful source filled with valuable resources, including an annual conference, national events, groups, and research access.

Each of these memberships provide support and resources in different areas, allowing me the opportunity, year-round, to continue my education, helping me become the best teacher for my students!
