Welcome

“The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don’t tell you what to see.”. ― Alexandra K. Trenfor

I am a Seattle native, a theatre professional, and English teacher. My husband and I moved to Roanoke from the Pacific North West in 2016.

During  our time here, I have founded and continue to run Page to Stage Theatre Company. Page to Stage is a small company that produces primarily new plays. It host both readings and fully staged productions, and we partner with and promote new playwrights nationwide.

Though theatre and English are directly linked,  my love for theatre is not the reason I became an English teacher.

I am a strong believer in providing tools to our students to help them become productive and proactive thinkers. Not only does this require teaching  proper grammar and clear articulation of  thought, but it also means exploring the relevance of poetry and classic literature. It means teaching critical thinking techniques, and emphasizing the power of asking questions.

My experience on-stage has made me an engaging speaker, and an observant leader. My passion and understanding of the arts, and the political role they play in the world, help me connect my core lessons to creativity, student advocacy and empowerment.
